Dorothy Shirley Kraemer, 90, Wyckoff Resident

WYCKOFF, N.J. — Wyckoff resident Dorothy Shirley Kraemer died Wednesday, Feb. 3. She was 90.

A native of Newark, Kraemer grew up in East Orange and spent 59 years in Wyckoff.

She was a multi-decade member of the Church of the Good Shepard in Midland Park, where she served on the vestry numerous times and was a perennial member of the Altar Guild. 

She was an avid member of the Wyckoff Women’s Club, serving as president for six years. 

As a volunteer with the Valley Hospital Auxiliary, she spent more than 1,500 hours in the kitchen of Kurth Cottage Café at the hospital, preparing meals that benefitted the healthcare programs and services provided.

Kraemer is survived by her husband, Warren, of 72 years; their three children, Diane and her husband Mike, Kenneth and his wife Gail and Curtis and his wife Ellen; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. 

The family will receive friends from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, May 14 with a memorial service starting at 2:30 p.m., at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff. 

In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090-6011.
