Dorothy Churco, 89, Of Oakland

OAKLAND, N.J. -- Dorothy Churco, a resident of Oakland, died Thursday, Jan. 21. She was 89.

Prior to her retirement, she was a manager with Ridgewood Answering Service for more than 32 years. She was a former member of the Wyckoff Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, a member of the Roanoke Wildwood Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, a member of the Women’s Club of Lake Gaston, Va., having served as president, a member of the Needlework Club in North Carolina and had been involved for many years with both the Girls Scouts and Boys Scouts in the Wyckoff area.

She is survived by her daughters, Nancy Van Houten of Midland Park, Judy Berry and her husband, Bruce, of Columbia, Md.; her son, Kenneth Winters of Columbia, Md.; 14 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. She also is survived by her sisters, Henriette Brower and her husband, Alfred, of Pearl River, N.Y. and Carrie Walsh of Nanuet, N.Y.; her two step-sons, Henry Churco and his wife, Trudy, of Wyckoff and William Churco and his wife, Cindy, of Pennsylvania.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Edward Winters, her second husband, Henry Churco and her son, Edward G. Winters.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff.

A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Wyckoff Reformed Church Cemetery.
