The Hackettstown victim told police that they had been feeling mysteriously ill just before 9:30 a.m. on March 29, authorities said in a Wednesday release.

A follow-up investigation determined that Sujata Prasad, 46, used a syringe to inject Gabapentin into the victim’s food, police said.

Gabapentin is an prescription anticonvulsant and nerve pain medication typically used to treat seizures and shingles pain.

Prasad was charged Oct. 28 with criminal mischief and disorderly conduct and is scheduled to appear in court.
