Chef Josh DeChellis’ Juniper Hill Restaurant & Bar on Beaver Avenue in Annandale has been sold to Tony Martinez, according to a Thursday, May 25 post on the eatery’s social media pages.
The announcement was given with gratitude and “very mixed emotions” following DeChellis’ successful six-year ownership.
“We are feeling all the emotions, but are very much looking forward to seeing what’s next for us,” reads the post. “We look back on the last six years with such pride and adoration for all that our little place accomplished and are extremely thankful for all the amazing, interesting, talented, food-and-drink-loving people that we have been lucky to have worked alongside, meet and host.”
Opened in 2017, Juniper Hill has developed a reputation and commitment to serving seasonal cuisine curated based on freshness and quality.
According to MyCentralJersey, the transfer of ownership will give DeChellis more time with his two sons and his wife.
“I want to spend more time with the family. I really miss them,” DeChellis told the outlet. “The restaurant took up a lot of my bandwidth that didn’t allow me to spend as much time as I wanted to with my family.”
Still, the chef is looking graciously at both the past and future — as are Juniper Hill’s longtime patrons.
“It was a hell of a run – we had a lot of fun, made it through some crazy times and bounced back with the help of all of you,” reads the post. “We thank our family, friends, those that became like family and the countless faces that have visited us for helping make Juniper Hill everything that it was and wish Tony, the new owner, and the J Hill team all the best!”
