The woman was walking in the area of East Westfield Avenue and Chestnut Street around 5 p.m. Tuesday when the male, who appeared to be about 16 to 18 years old, began making inappropriate remarks, police said.
When he refused to leave her alone, she called police. As she was on the phone he struck her and headed towards the center of town.
The suspect was last seen wearing a bomber jacket, glasses and a hat.
The investigation is ongoing and is being conducted by Detective Mitchell White of the Roselle Park Police Detective Bureau. Witnesses or anyone with information is asked to call 908-245-2300 or 2306.
