Firefighters arrived at 247 Broadway around 1:24 p.m. and saw flames pouring from the top windows of the building. Working from outside the structure, firefighters brought the two-alarm blaze under control in about 40 minutes.

An adjacent building sustained water damage but the fire itself was kept to 247 Broadway, Weaver said. The damage was so extensive the city building department determined that the structure will have to be town down.

A total of 19 people have been displaced from the original fire building. Three people have been temporarily displaced from the building next door, Weaver said.

There were no reports of injuries.
