Three people had been stabbed at an Englewood home over the Labor Day weekend, authorities said, when city police confronted a 22-year-old city man holding a knife. An officer fired a taser at Bernard Placide inside the home on West Englewood Avenue off the corner of Reade Street shortly after 8 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 3, Acting New Jersey Attorney General Matthew J. Police responding to a stabbing in Englewood were involved in a fatal shooting, according to multiple sources. CPR was in progress as a shooting victim was taken to Englewood Hospital and Medical Center in grave condition with a gunshot wound in the chest following the incident on West Englewood Avenue off the corner of Reade Street shortly before 8:30 a.m. Saturday, they said. Detectives: Three Stabbed -- None Cooperating -- In Englewood Street Fight
ENGLEWOOD, N.J. -- Police were trying to determine who stabbed three men -- one of whom suffered a collapsed lung -- during an Englewood street fight. The trouble is: None of the victims is cooperating, Detective Capt. Timothy Torell said. Two victims were found at West Englewood Avenue and Reade Street around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, Torell said. The fight, in the 100 block of Reade Street, sent a 22-year-old Englewood victim to Hackensack University Medical Center with a stab wound to his chest and the collapsed lung, Torell said.
