Detours will be in effect as the roads are expected to be closed for an extended period of time. Officials wouldn't say how long the project will run.

A previous road project at West Fort Lee and River Roads took around a month, as crews worked on the road area for approximately 15 hours a day, said Sgt. Geoffrey Cole.

"It's a part of the PSE&G Energy Strong program," Cole said. "We're just putting out an early warning for people."

Businesses will remain open and accessible during construction.

"Getting from Ridgefield Park to Botoga, it's a major thoroughfair," Cole said.

"It's just the amount of cars that go through there every day."

Cole advised locals refer to Bogota Police Department's Nixle alerts, and Facebook and Twitter posts for updates over the next few weeks.

Motorists should add extra minutes to their travel times to allow for traffic conjestion in the area.
