YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: Police took a 16-year-old Teaneck High School student into custody last night in connection with a Dunkin Donuts holdup Sunday, thanks to a resource officer and staffers at the school who recognized him.

Detective Saul Santiago, the resource Officer, told investigating detectives yesterday that he, along with other members of the high school staff, recognized the teen after seeing a video released to the media (SEE: Teaneck police issue image of Dunkin Donuts robber ).

The student turned himself in to police with his mother and attorney at 9 o’clock last night, Chief Robert A. Wilson said.

Juvenile delinquency complaints were filed against him for:

  • armed robbery
  • weapons possession (2 counts)
  • weapons possession by a minor

A search warrant turned up the suspected weapon — a pellet gun — at the teen’s home.

He was being held in the Bergen County Juvenile Detention Center pending an initial appearance in Family Court.
