The fire department will muster at noon on Park Avenue in Teaneck across from the highway.
The five-foot long, 3,500-pound piece of steel was part of a Twin Towers wall and is one of the last being given to a fire department. The recovered I-Beam will travel from New York back to Fort Collins, Colorado.
The Terry Farrell Firefighters Fund and Port Authority have donated it to the Poudre Fire Authority, whose Urban Search and Rescue Team was dispatched to Ground Zero after the 9/11 attacks..
The Terry Farrell Firefighters Fund was established to assist firefighters and families across the nation with financial, educational and medical support, and to provide equipment donations for fire departments in need.
Terry Farrell -- a father, husband, brother and dedicated firefighter -- was in Tower Two when it collapsed on 9/11, killing him.
“The Terry Fund provides much needed relief to firefighters and families facing hardship,” according to www.terryfund.org. “The fund also distributes donated surplus equipment to help them do their jobs more safely and effectively.”
The beam will be escorted by more than 100 different Emergency Service Agencies, including Patriot Guard Riders and American veterans, and will be celebrated and honored as the steel passes through each town along the way.
