Rochelle Park Pedestrian Pinned Under SUV While Walking Dog

A 57-year-old Rochelle Park resident was expected to survive after being struck and pinned by an SUV while crossing a local street with her dog early Thursday, authorities said.

The woman was walking south along Rochelle Avenue when she crossed Chesnut Street and was struck by a Chevy Equinox whose driver was making a left from northbound Rochelle Avenue around 7:45 a.m., police said.

Rochelle Park Fire Rescue lifted the car off the victim, who was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center with injuries that Flannelly said didn’t appear life-threatening.

The 44-year-old driver, also from Rochelle Park, remained at the scene, he said.

The dog was OK.

An investigation was continuing, the chief said.
