Councilmen Elie Y. Katz and Yitz Stern have scheduled, among others, Teaneck Police Chief Robert Wilson, along with Brian Sinclair of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and Investigators Aziza Salikhov and Brian Morgenstern from the Cyber Fraud Unit of the New Jersey State Attorney General’s Division of Consumer Affairs.
The event, titled “Staying Safe in a High Tech World,” is set for 7:15 p.m. next Thursday at the Richard Rodda Community Center, 250 Colonial Court. It will include a Q&A with the audience.
Topics will include sexting, bullying, inappropriate online conversations, online banking and purchasing, hacking, web browsing safety, email dos and don’ts, phishing, malware, ID theft and more.
“Recent news stories regarding the widespread theft of personal and financial information from the databases of several national retailers serves as a strong reminder that we need to continually educate ourselves so that we do our best to protect ourselves from these threats,” said Stern.
“As more of our population gets out into the cyber world, the potential for personal and financial harm continues to grow,” Katz said. “This is especially true for our children, as they become more tech-savvy on a daily basis
“With a little foresight, we can protect ourselves from many potential issues.”
Admission is free and refreshments will be served.
