A driver was under the influence of drugs when her Jeep bounced off the shoulder guardrail and smashed into the center median of Route 208 in Franklin Lakes Tuesday night, authorities said.
Aimee Dumont-Peppel, 59, of Chester, NJ (Morris County) was taken to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center following the 9 p.m. southbound crash, Capt. John Bakelaar said Wednesday.
The Jeep had just passed the Colonial Road exit when it “veered into the right lane, crossing the rumble strips and striking the guard rail,” he said.
It then “crossed all lanes into the left shoulder, approximately 150 feet south, crossing the rumble strips and striking the concrete median.”
Dumont-Peppel was charged with DWI, possession of Oxycodone and being under the influence of drugs while driving.
