TEANECK, N.J. -- Media accounts of a Teaneck hit-and-run crash that killed an Englewood bicyclist forced a former township man to turn himself in to authorities last night, Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said this afternoon.

Daryl Watkins, 24, of Hackensack posted $25,000 bail and was released after being charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident, the prosecutor said. An arraignment was scheduled for this Monday, Oct. 5, in Teaneck Municipal Court.

Police found 50-year-old Juan Vasquez sitting in a grassy area near where he was struck just before 11 p.m. on Sept. 29 at the intersection of East Englewood Avenue and Nelden Road in Teaneck, Molinelli said yesterday.

He was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center and later succumbed to hs injuries, the prosecutor said.

The vehicle, meanwhile, continued souh on Nelden Road, with passenger side damage -- and a missing door handle, he said.
