Donors tout their generosity

The generosity of the season is bringing food, clothing and shelter to many in need. A coat drive sponsored by state Sen. Kevin O’Toole collected more than 1,500 garments for the needy that were delivered today to Jersey Cares in Verona.

Members and affiliates of the Bergen County Police Chiefs Association recently delivered food and other household items to the New Jersey National Guard’s food Pantry located at the Teaneck Armory. Meanwhile, the Bergen County PBA toy drive continues in earnest (CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFO).

“I am gratified by the support the community demonstrated coming together to collect these coats for those who have less,” O’Toole said.

“While we are still counting coats,” said Brian Dean, executive director of Jersey Cares, “it is clear that… more than 1,500 people will not have to face the cold winter unprotected.

“These are 1,500 children who will be able to focus on their studies rather than on the cold walk to and from school, seniors who will be able to leave their homes to get medication, job seekers who will be able to continue their search through the winter and people without homes who will survive the frigid temperatures outside.”
