Teaneck Nurse Maureen A. Kavanagh Dies At 71

TEANECK, N.J. -- Maureen A. Kavanagh, of Teaneck, died on Friday, Jan. 13. She was 71.

Kavanagh was a licensed practical nurse in Holy Name Hospital's hemodialysis unit for over 20 years. Prior to that, she worked for many years at the Strang Clinic in New York City.

"She was a lover of life and travel," information from the funeral home noted. "She spent much of her free time discovering and exploring various exotic and far away destinations."

Kavanagh is survived by her siblings, Sharon Melvin, and Luke Kavanagh and his wife Jean. She was predeceased by her brother-in-law, Dennis Melvin.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 19, at the Volk Leber Funeral Home, 789 Teaneck Rd., in Teaneck. The funeral service on Friday at 8:30 a.m. from the funeral home, then to St. Joseph's Church, 115 E Fort Lee Rd., in Bogota, for a 9:30 a.m. mass. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, in Woodside.
