Rosemary Kozel Fuchs, 84, Oakland Resident

OAKLAND, N.J. -- Rosemary Kozel Fuchs, of Oakland, died on Friday, March 17. She was 84.

Born in Oklahoma, Fuchs earned a journalism degree at the University of Oklahoma. She and her husband moved to Oakland, where they lived for over 50 years. 

"She was greatly involved in the community," information from the funeral home notes. She was a Girl Scout Leader, PTA president, member of the local and county Republican Party organizations, and OLPH parish liturgy committee.

Fuchs enjoyed reading and playing bridge with friends, and she loved cooking and baking for loved ones.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, William Fuchs; son Randy; daughter- and son-in-law Leighanne and Robert Egan; and daughter and son-in-law Heather and David Gavito. 

She is also survived by her grandchildren Brandon, Connor, Trevor and Tierney Egan and Brielle and Brennan Gavito; great-grandson Griffin; and sisters Loretta, Karen and Ramona.

Fuchs was preceded by her parents, Henry and Beulah Kozel. 

Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 21, at Oakland Memorial Home, 330 Ramapo Valley Rd., in Oakland. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 25 Purdue Ave., in Oakland.
