TEANECK, N.J. – George Mereos, of Teaneck, died Saturday, June 25. He was 71.
He was born Aug. 29, 1944, in Chios, Greece. He owned and operated the Cedar Lane Grille in Teaneck for 40 years.
He is survived by his wife, Vasilia Mereos; daughters, Tina Mereos and Maria Mitses; son-in-law Kyriakos Mitses; sister Kyriaki and her husband, Eleftherios Vekios; sister-in-law Lemonia and her husband, Simeon Nikitas; brother-in-law Nikolaos Tsikolis; cousins, Thomas and Carole Kourgelis and their families, John and Kiki Kourgelis and their families; and his nieces, nephews, many cousins and many friends throughout the United States, Greece and Australia.
Friends and family will be received from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Volk Leber Funeral Home, 789 Teaneck Road, Teaneck. A viewing will be conducted at 11:15 a.m. Wednesday followed by the funeral service at noon at Saint Athanasios Greek Orthodox Church, 51 Paramus Road, Paramus. Interment will follow at the George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus.
