BERGEN COUNTY, N.J.— Youth football coach and father of three Kente Alexander Blount of Teaneck died on Nov. 25. He was 37 years old.

Blount worked for various school systems, where he helped to develop and teach children from ages 6 to 18 with special needs as a para-professional. He also served as a defensive coach and mentor for the Englewood Public and Teaneck Public school systems.

He played football on many semi-pro teams, most recently having finished his last season with the New Jersey Blitz.

More than $3,800 had been raised as of Sunday evening on a GoFundMe for Blount's family.

"Kente embraced the opportunity to make a positive impact on people's lives through all of his various ventures," the page says.

"He loved coaching, teaching and mentoring children on the importance of their purpose in life.

"He lived hard and loved harder. He had an undying love for his family, football and faith.

"His presence can never be replaced and for that reason we need all the help we can get to help The Blount Family during this time."

Blount is survived by his wife, Jemara Blount; children Kendra Blount (Jacquetta Heckstall), Keziah Blount and Kaden Blount; mother Carol Golden; father Kent Seward (Deborah Seward); brothers Antonio Golden and Joshua Cason; sisters Kentria Blount and Joshshara Cason; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles and extended family.

Services were held last week in Virginia.
