Outside, temperatures hovered around 60 degrees. Inside, the Ethical Culture Society of Bergen County screened "This Changes Everything."
Based on Naomi Klein's book, the movie argues against fossil fuels and for a fast switch to renewable energy.
"I think climate change is so important — there's nothing more important," said Janet Glass, president of the Ethical Culture Society, which holds discussion on a variety of topics.
The environment is a frequent topic for the organization. The New Jersey chapter of 350.org — an environmental group — comes to Teaneck often.
"Because it was Thanksgiving weekend, we chose to do something educational and social," she said.
Society member Louis Steinberg said he enjoyed "This Changes Everything" because it offers some optimism instead of just "doom and gloom."
The book and film note that climate change does not have to be the end of the world -- but can, instead, be a new beginning.
