Janine Weinert had raised more than $400 on Tuesday evening through a GoFundMe page for an Albany father of 4.

James Huber, a military veteran who has suffered five heart attacks, is hoping he won't lose custody of his children. His daughter, Shannon's kidney is failing after a transplant and she is suffering from complications. If he doesn't have surgery, he could lose custody of them.

“I was trying to help them with funds for Christmas, for travel back and forth from Albany to Boston, and for someone to watch the kids while he goes in for surgery,” Weinert said.

Weinert connected with Huber on Facebook.

"(Huber) is a good guy - a stand-up guy,” she said. “This family is in such dire straits — I'm trying to help them."
