The library posted the new position Jan. 4, as administration seeks to manage its growing children’s and young adult departments, and 4,100 patrons.

Responsibilities include implementing programs targeted at youth up to age 18, as well as collection development, interfacing with the local school district, reader’s advisory, and other duties as assigned, the website says.

“In the past, whoever the director was, they managed it. But not it has gotten to the point where we really need a dedicated person to do it," Library Director Gretchen Kaser said.

The library is seeking a friendly, tech-savvy individual who loves working with children.

Applicants should also have experience in a public library setting, and should be able to work well with a small team that make up a staff of under a dozen employees.

“We need someone to act as a liaison and get the community involved in these kinds of things," the director said.

The library expects the position to be 24 hours a week, including one Saturday a month.

All applications must be in by Fri. Jan. 15.
