That day could be Wednesday, Feb. 17. The National Random Acts of Kindness Day is set aside to encourage individuals, groups and organizations across the country to perform acts of kindness.

It's a feel-good day for everyone, regardless if you're the doer or the receiver.

An internet search quickly points to the Random Acts of Kindness Foundation, also called "RAK," with launching the the Random Acts of Kindness Week and Day.

In New Zealand, where this day originated, Random Acts of Kindness Day is celebrated Sept. 1. However, it is recognized by some on other days throughout the year, but any day can be a random act of kindness one, its founders likely would say.

Participation is simple. Just do nice things throughout the day then post what you did with the hashtag "#RandomActsOfKindnessDay" on social media hopefully to encourage your followers to do the same and keep the trend moving forward.

  • “No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.” (Aesop)
  • “Remember there’s no such thing as a small act of kindness. Every act creates a ripple with no logical end.” (Scott Adams)
  • “Kind words and actions can seem so small, but their effects are truly endless.” (Author Unknown)
