TEANECK, N.J. -- The Teaneck Health Department is reminding pet owners that it’s not too late to renew their dog’s licenses without being penalized.
Dog licenses expired on Thursday, Dec. 31, but owners have until Monday, Feb. 29, to renew them without getting hit by a fine.
The fee is $13 for dogs which are not spayed or neutered, and $10 for those that are spayed or neutered.
A late fee of $15 will be added on Thursday, March 1.
Residents who have new dogs, or who need renewal applications, can get them by calling (201) 837-1600, ext. 1500; or by visiting www.teanecknj.gov (under Health Department documents and forms).
Renewal applications were mailed to residents last month.
Free rabies shots can be arranged through the Teaneck Animal Clinic and Spa by calling (201) 530-5833, or at the Bergen Veterinary Hospital by calling (201) 837-3470.
Dog owners should also note that state guidelines hold that rabies shots that expire prior to Nov. 1, 2016, are NOT valid for licensing purposes.
License fees can be paid for by check (made out to: Township of Teaneck) or by cash.
