TEANECK, N.J. -- Kids are welcome to come read to a therapy dog on Monday, March 7, at the Teaneck Public Library.
Children can sign up to read a book or books of their choice to a therapy dog one-on-one for 15 minutes. The purpose of this program is to encourage reading, improve language skills, and give children a sense of security and confidence in their reading ability.
The program welcomes children of all abilities.
In-person registration for kids in first through fifth grade has begun. Teaneck residents are given priority. If you are unable to make your "appointment," please give 24 hours' notice. Please arrive on time with their books ready -- or early, so you have time to pick out books. The dog's trainer is present.
The canine reading session runs from 4-5 p.m. Call the Children's Department at 201-837-4171, ext. 4 for more information.
