The program will recognize and thank all veterans for their service and dedication to our country. There also will be a remembrance of the victims of 9/11.
The public is invited, especially veterans and active duty, emergency services personnel, Scouts, groups and families. Guests are invited to stay for a free tour of the museum.
Veterans Day is celebrated Nov. 11 in honor of those who have served in the Armed Forces of the United States and gives Americans the opportunity to celebrate the bravery and sacrifice of all U.S. veterans.
Veterans Day, formerly known as Armistice Day, originally was designated in 1919 by President Woodrow Wilson. Wilson selected Nov. 11 because the Armistice ending World War I officially took place Nov. 11, 1918. Wilson wanted to make sure Americans did not forget the tragedies of the war. As part of legislation passed in 1938, Nov. 11 was “dedicated to the cause of world peace and to be hereafter celebrated and known as “Armistice Day.”
The ceremony will be in the museum's parking lot at Teterboro Airport, 400 Fred Wehran Drive, next to the FAA tower.
Parking will be available in the nearby Dassault FalconJet lot, with a jitney bus transport to the museum. Handicap parking is available. The ceremony will be conducted rain or shine; indoor facilities will be available if it rains.
