Andover first responder E. Scott Danielson — who served as Director of Communications and 9-1-1 Warren County Department of Public Safety — died of a heart attack at age 49 while responding to a car accident involving his then-19-year-old daughter in Byram Township on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016, NJHerald reported.
“The last interaction I had with my son before his passing was me closing his eyes and promising him that I would protect his family,” Scott’s father and retired Byram Township Police Chief Eskil S. Danielson wrote on newly-launched fundraiser on Fund the First, a crowd-funding platform for first responders.
Scott had also worked with the Lakeland Emergency Squad for more than 35 years, as well as serving as a member of Warren County’s Hazardous Materials Response Team and communication centers at Sussex-Morris Regional, Bernardsville, Morris County and State Police, reads the fundraiser, created August 5.
After several years of court battles, Andover resident Tammy Danielson, widow of E. Scott Danielson, was awarded full compensation for the line-of-duty-death — however, the claim was appealed by the insurer and has since been delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the fundraiser says.
Danielson — who has eight first responders in the family — accrued more than $70,000 in debt following her husband’s line-of-duty death, reads the campaign, which had garnered more than $2,100 in donations out of a $25,000 goal as of Tuesday evening.
The funds donated in the campaign will be used to support Danielson and her children, Alycia, Amanda and Aaron.
