The possible luring was initially reported near Cheri Lane and Bridle Lane in Mount Olive around 8:05 a.m., officials said in a post on the district’s Facebook page.

The post was updated shortly before 10:30 a.m. stating the investigation found that the case was merely a case of mistaken identity, though the incident will be used as a learning lesson to reinforce proper safety procedures among young students.

“District educators will be reinforcing with students today that at no time should they get into a stranger's car and if they are approached to run to the nearest safe adult,” the Mount Olive School District said.
