William Paterson University Police Seize Trio With Guns, Ammo, Ski Masks

WAYNE, N.J. -- William Paterson University police seized three handguns, hollow-point ammo, carpet razors and more than a quarter-pound of vacuum-sealed pot over the weekend from three outsiders with ski masks, authorities said.

The Essex County trio -- one of them a former WPU student -- had a defaced .45-caliber revolver reported stolen out of Virginia, along with a semi-automatic and a pellet gun, a law enforcement source said.

The Essex County trio -- one of them a former WPU student -- had a defaced .45-caliber revolver reported stolen out of Virginia, along with a semi-automatic and a pellet gun, when they were found in a parking lot at the North Haledon end of the campus at 3:44 a.m. Sunday, authorities said.

The suspects also apparently were recording images on a camera and appeared like they "intended to do serious harm," a source told Daily Voice.

Being held in the Passaic County Jail on drug and weapons charges on Monday were Safiyy Robinson of Newark and Lamar Turner and Billy Pierre-Louis, both of West Orange, all 20 years old, said Phillip Sprayberry, the WPU media relations coordinator.

Haledon police assisted.
