PATERSON, N.J. — Two people were hospitalized after a multi-building fire in Paterson burned for nearly four hours Tuesday night.

The fire started around 5 p.m. on North 4th Street, Deputy Fire Chief Frank Calamita said.

Three buildings were heavily involved and two more had heat damage to the exterior, he said.

Two people were transported to St. Joe's Hospital but Calamita said he did not have further details on their condition.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, Calamita told Daily Voice.

The fire was under control at 8:53 p.m., Calamita said.

Clifton and Passaic firefighters also responded.
