According to Nassau County Police detectives, on Wednesday, Jan. 15, a 77-year-old female victim in Floral Park was contacted via telephone from an unknown person who advised her that her granddaughter was arrested after being involved in an auto accident and needed $9,800 for bail money.

An arrangement was made, and an unknown subject came to her home where the cash was given to him.

On Friday, Jan. 17, another call requesting an additional $19,000 for a judge ordered payment for medical treatment on behalf of the other party was needed.

The victim then became suspicious and contacted the Floral Park Police Department, who helped her arrange a meeting at her home with the subject requesting the money.

Upon his arrival at the victim’s home at around 1 p.m., Ahmaad Moore, 31, of Queens Village, was placed under arrest without incident.

Moore is charged with third-degree grand larceny and was scheduled to be arraigned in First District Court in Hempstead on Saturday, Jan. 18.
