PATERSON, N.J. -- A grand jury in Paterson indicted an off-duty city police officer for a shooting that injured two people.
Dante L. Gordon, 26, of Paterson is charged with two counts of aggravated assault, one of making terroristic threats and various weapons possession offenses, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes said.
Prosecutor said Gordon pointed a handgun “at or in the direction” of 35-year-old Travis Mann of Wanaque and pulled the trigger. Struck were Mann and 37-year-old John Smith of Paterson, who was nearby at the time, they said.
Gordon was released on $100,000 with an electronic monitoring bracelet.
An Oct. 17 arraignment was scheduled.
