PATERSON, N.J. -- Join the Paterson Historic Preservation Society as it picks up litter in Westside Park on Saturday, April 16.

"This is an informal event," organizers noted. "Feel free to come by, help us tidy up the park, and ask us questions about our organization and what we're trying to do."

The cleanup will also help to ready the park for a vintage baseball event the following weekend, on Saturday, April 23.

The city's Historic Preservation Commission will present an old-school doubleheader. "Come see America's favorite pastime played according to 19th century rules and regulations," a flyer notes. Authentic equipment and uniforms will also be used.

"Bring a chair, your picnic lunch and cheer on your favorite player."

The games will feature the New York Gothams versus the Brooklyn Atlantics. The first game will be at 11 a.m., the second at 1:30 p.m.
