Jarian Adams, 40, pleaded guilty to possession of cocaine in an amount greater than one-half ounce with intent to distribute, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley Billhimer said.

On July 20, 2018, members of the Barnegat Township Police stopped a vehicle being operated by Adams, who was observed to have committed various motor vehicle infractions. During stop, Adams was found in possession of a significant amount of cocaine, indicative of distribution purposes.

Adams is scheduled to be sentenced on April 17, when prosecutors will recommend eight years in New Jersey State Prison with a 48 month period of parole ineligibility. That means Adams would have to serve at least four years of the sentence before being eligible for parole.

Adams also pled guilty Tuesday to unrelated charges of possession of cocaine in an amount less than one-half ounce with intent to distribute as well as possession of Oxycodone without a valid prescription. Prosecutors are seeking a sentence of three years in state prison on each charge. All sentences would run concurrently.

Billhimer also cited assistance from the Toms River Township Police Department and Ocean County Sheriff’s Office.
