A Plainfield man walked into a convenience store with a gunshot wound then collapsed on the ground Saturday night, authorities said Monday.
The 28-year-old man went into a Route 22 store in Green Brook Township, told the clerk that he had been shot, then collapsed just after 11 p.m., Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson said in a joint release.
Medical crews treated the man at the scene before taking him to a local trauma center for emergency surgery. He is listed in stable condition, authorities said.
It is not clear where the shooting occurred or what the motive was, authorities said.
