Popeyes, Arby's Replace Former NJ Supermarket, 'Huge Crowd' Expected
Fast food fans in Warren County have waited long enough. A Popeyes and an Arby's are opening at 680 Memorial Pkwy. in Phillipsburg, at the site of a former Ahart supermarket. The Popeyes will be hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, Jan. 12 at 4 p.m. while the Arby's will be opening on Tuesday, Jan. 16. Zach Liptak, owner of Phillipsburg-based ZRL Real Estate and Construction oversaw the project, which began in June 2022 when the original supermarket was torn down. North Jersey residents are feeling the impact of this week's storm with thousands still without power and schools closed or delayed. In Bergen County, houses were hit on East Midland Avenue in Paramus and on Sunset Avenue in Englewood. A Mahwah police officer also escaped serious injury when a falling tree struck his cruiser. The National Weather Service has released an automated analysis of snowfall after the Saturday, Jan. 6 storm. Let's see how accurate the NWS' prediction models were compared to the model released after the storm. Parts of the region will be shoveling out of several inches of snow from the weekend when another strong storm system moves in, forecasters are saying. A North Jersey man already facing time in federal prison was sentenced to more time in State Prison for sexually abusing a teen Boy Scouts of America counselor in training nearly a decade ago. An Israeli soldier whose mother is a cantor and father is a rabbi in New Jersey is alive following the attack on Israel on Saturday, Oct. 7. Ari Dubin's parents both took to Facebook to report that he was found safe. While no one won the big Powerball jackpot on Monday, Oct. 9, three North Jersey lottery players are not complaining.
