Regina Barrale, principal of Alfred S. Faust Intermediate School in East Rutherford, was appointed to fill the unexpired term of former board member David Gierek, who was recently appointed to the Saddle Brook Township Council.

“I want to be involved to make decisions based on what is best for every student in the Saddle Brook School District and to increase student achievement,” Barrale told Daily Voice. “I also would like to support instructional programs that allow students to advance their education and successfully prepare for their future careers.”

Barrale also said she would like to work with the rest of the board to hire a long-term superintendent of schools.

Barrale, who was a trustee of the Saddle Brook Board of Education from 2013 to 2015, has also served as supervisor of instruction in the East Rutherford School District and as a health and physical education teacher.

Her term on the board runs until January, and she plans to run in the November election for a three-year term, she said.
