The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates identified the boy as Omar [Amer] Mohammed Saadeh Rabee and said the killing happened in the town of Turmus Ayya in Ramallah.
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) shared a blurry video of what they said showed “three terrorists who were throwing rocks toward a highway with civilian vehicles," spotted by Israeli fighters.
“The fighters fired at the terrorists who posed a danger to the civilians, eliminated one of them, and injured the two additional terrorists,” the IDF said.
Israeli forces were operating as part of Unit 636 under the Samaria Brigade, the IDF said. “IDF forces will continue to operate in defense and offense throughout Judea and Samaria for the security of the region's residents,” the military said.
NorthJersey.com said that Rabee was a native of Saddle Brook. The boy's uncle is a board member of the Palestinian American Community Center in Clifton, where a funeral prayer service was held on Sunday, April 6, the outlet said.
Daily Voice has reached out to the PACC and Rabee's uncle for comment.
The Palestine MFA issued a statement on Rabee's death, saying:
The Ministry reaffirms that our people remain a continual victim of the occupation, as well as of the international community’s ongoing failure to assume its legal responsibilities regarding the historic injustice inflicted on the Palestinian people and the continued occupation of their land. It calls for immediate measures to halt the war of extermination, displacement, and crimes committed by the Israeli occupation forces and settler militias against our people, and to ensure protection for the Palestinian people—particularly children.
The two surviving teens were reportedly injured during the incident. Their names and conditions have not been released.
