ELMWOOD PARK, N.J. – A 24-year-old substitute teacher who lives in Elmwood Park trafficked in pornographic videos of children on his home computer, said authorities who arrested him Tuesday.
Zachary A. Smith was ordered held on $75,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail pending a Dec. 7 hearing in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack on charges of child endangerment, Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal said.
Smith, who is single, was arrested after members of Grewal’s Cyber Crimes Unit with a warrant searched his Donor Avenue home on Tuesday following a month-long investigation, the prosecutor said.
Smith “utilized the Internet to access, view, and share sexually explicit videos of prepubescent and pubescent females,” Grewal said.
Grewal thanked the municipal police agencies that contributed members to the BCPO Cyber Crimes Task Force – specifically, Bogota, Oradell, Paramus, Ridgewood and Ramsey, who participated in the investigation. He also thanked Elmwood Park police.
