Anne Marie Ryant, 79, Saddle Brook Resident

SADDLE BROOK, N.J. -- Anne Marie (Gilhooley) Ryant, of Saddle Brook, died on Saturday, Jan. 21. She was 79.

Ryant graduated from Pope Pious High School in Passaic and attended Bergen Community College, where she studied psychology and travel services.

"As avid water sports lover, Anne enjoyed both sailing and power boating and was a former member of the Lavallette Yacht Club and the Ramsey Power squadron," information from the funeral home noted. "With her love of the ocean and the beach, Annie could always be found summering in Mantoloking Shores at her home on Barnegat Bay."

Ryant loved to travel, and she did so throughout the U.S. and abroad including Ireland, the Caribbean, and Nova Scotia, Quebec and British Columbia. "Ever active, Annie's winters were filled with tennis, skiing, dancing, bridge, bowling, greyhound rescue and Broadway theater."

She is survived by her husband of over 57 years, Charles; children Maryann of Saddle Brook, Charles and his wife Maile of California, and Douglas and his wife Joyce of Georgia; and granddaughters Meleana Suzanne and Maile Catherine.

Ryant is also survived by her siblings Kathleen Tuttle and her husband Warren Tuttle of Elmwood Park, Ellen Dueltgen of Nutley, and sister-in-law Fran Gilhooley of Garfield; numerous nieces and nephews; and many lifelong friends.

Her brother Thomas of Garfield predeceased her by four months.

Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 25, at the Patrick J. Conte Funeral Home, 274 Market St., in Elmwood Park. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Friday at the Hawthorne Gospel Church, 2000 Route 208 North, in Hawthorne. Interment will be in George Washington Memorial Park, in Paramus.
