Dante Gordon, 25, of Paterson, pointed his gun at a Wanaque man and fired his gun once around 1:20 a.m. Feb. 25 at the intersection of Main and Market streets, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes said.

His target and another man standing nearby were injured from a "fragment or debris from the discharge," Valdes said.

The prosecutor didn't say whether Gordon used his service weapon or another gun.

Records show the Wanaque man, 34-year-old Travis Mann, has a criminal history.

Gordon was suspended without pay, Paterson Police Director Jerry Speziale told Daily Voice.

Gordon was charged with aggravated assault and unlawful possession of a weapon, Valdes said.

An investigation was continuing.
