RUTHERFORD, N. J. -- Rutherford launches the Christmas holiday season on Saturday with an all-day festival and parade.

Events kick off at noon with the second annual flag football game between St. Mary and Rutherford alumni at Tryon Field.

Attendees are asked to bring a non-perishable food donation for the Rutherford Community Food Pantry.

At 4 p.m., the holiday parade sets off from Beech Street, with the folks from 55 Kip Center acting as grand marshals.

A tree-lighting ceremony follows immediately after the parade in front of the library. There will be a Holiday Village in Lincoln Park until 8 p.m.

Activities include a "Frozen" musical revue, as well as horse and carriage rides and photos with Santa -- all free. There also will be story time with Mrs. Claus.

Project Graduation will be selling refreshments.

The event is sponsored by the mayor and council, Rutherford Chamber of Commerce, Girl Scouts, department of public works, Rutherford Downtown Partnership, police department, RHS Project Graduation and the Recreation Department.
