William Mickel was employed by the Boy Scouts of America in Morris County when he trafficked videos and still images of child sex abuse via email, U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger said. A 32-year-old Hudson County man was sentenced to prison for making a teen boy sexually abused a child and record it, prosecutors said. Joseph Suarez, of West New York, was sentenced to 15 years in prison last week after he pleaded guilty to instructing a 13-year-old boy to sexually abuse a 4-year-old girl and send him recordings of it, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. A South Jersey man who authorities said sent links for child sex abuse sites to what turned out to be undercover federal agents admitted possessing files that they said contained more than 22,000 horrific images. UPDATE: Prosecutors have filed additional charges of child sex abuse against a former personal fitness trainer from Teaneck, records show. August Samek, 47, has remained jailed since he was accused of domestic violence assault nearly a month ago. Additional allegations of sex with minors that emerged following that arrest have kept him behind bars. Former Morris County priest James T. Hanley, who admitted to abusing at least a dozen children in Pompton Plains and Mendham throughout a 14-year period, died in a nursing home last week. Hanley, 83, previously served a decade as a pastor at St. Joseph’s Church in Mendham before he was defrocked in 2003, Paterson Diocese attorney Kenneth Mullaney said. A Ridgefield man must spend the next five years in federal prison for collecting and distributing videos and other images of child sex abuse. Because there's no parole in the federal prison system, Malcolm Salamanca, 29, will have to serve the entire term handed down Monday by U.S. District Judge Esther Salas in Newark. A Ridgefield man admitted in federal court Friday that he collected and distributed videos and other images of child sex abuse.
