Leonia Library Faces Possible Budget Cut LEONIA, N.J. — The Leonia Public Library is now closed on Sundays in anticipation of a 25% budget cut that would severely diminish the library's services and hours, library officials told Daily Voice. The trustees analyzed the impact the budget cut would have on the library and the results would be a library unrecognizable compared to what it is today, Library Board of the Trustees President John Kendrick said. Bergenfield Swears In New Police Officer BERGENFIELD, N.J. — Bergenfield officials swore in the 45th member of their police department. A former member of the Morris County Sheriff's Department, Kevin Helder, 39, was graduated from the police academy in 2008. Teaneck University Professor Proposes Yeshiva Program Counterpart TEANECK, N.J. – Fairleigh Dickinson University may have a new program on the horizon. Business professor Ira Jaskoll has proposed a similar program for women. Jaskoll of Teaneck also heads a program at the university for Orthodox Jewish men who are looking to get a secular education. Hackensack-Based Charter Schools Get State OK to Grow HACKENSACK, N.J. -- Three Bergen County charter schools got the go-ahead from the state Monday to expand enrollment for the upcoming academic year. The Bergen Arts and Sciences Charter School, which has campuses in Garfield, Lodi and Hackensack, is being allowed to increase its student body by nearly 35 percent.
