RIDGEWOOD, N.J. — Ridgewood High School will advance into the next round of the North 1, Group 5 football playoffs after defeating Clifton 42-21 Friday night in the playoff opener.

The Clifton Mustangs were catching up to the Maroons until Ridgewood inside linebacker Brendan McCarthy set up a touchdown that would carry the Maroons to its victory.

If Ridgewood (8-2) wins the next round against Montclair (5-4) on Friday, Nov. 20 at RHS, then the Maroons will go up against the winner of the Hackensack-Passaic Tech game in MetLife Stadium in December.
