Shovels, not equipment, free driver in Ridgewood crash

YOU SAW IT HERE FIRST: Ridgewood firefighters needed shovels to free the driver of an Audi sedan after it was broadsided and shoved into a snowbank this afternoon.

A BMW SUV hit the Audi around 2:20 p.m. in front of 81 North Maple Avenue.

No injuries were immediately reported. Both vehicles sustained damage and were removed by separate tow trucks.

Police issued a summons to the driver of the BMW, which was exiting the Kings Shopping Plaza when it hit the northbound Audi.
