A Ridgewood student mistakenly thought he saw a man carrying a gun outside the Travell School Thursday afternoon, prompting precautionary lockdowns there and at the Benjamin Franklin Middle School, police told Daily Voice.
“A dad was dropping off his kid. A student was looking out the window and saw what he thought was a gun,” Police Chief John Ward said. Both schools were immediately locked down as a precaution, he said.
“We were able to see on video what the child was talking about — the parent had a cellphone in his hand,” added Capt. Jacqueline Luthcke. “There was no threat.”
