Mahwah Council Changes Course On Proposed Pipeline Ban

MAHWAH, N.J. — Upon legal advice, the Mahwah Township Council tabled a proposed ordinance banning pipelines not regulated by the state public utilities board, northjersey.com reports.

Officials said they decided against the proposal because it wouldn’t override anything and could potentially cause legal problems down the line, according to the report.

The ordinance was aimed at preventing the Pilgrim Pipeline, which preliminary maps show running along Route 287 in Bergen, Passaic and Morris counties. More than 30 municipalities have expressed opposition to the plan, the article states.
