RIDGEWOOD, N.J. — A GoFundMe page intended to help a Ridgewood mom battling multiple sclerosis get a handicapped-accessible van has done just that.
Lesley Ellis Linker received a brand new 2015 Town & Country converted-lift minivan in early February.
”It is incredible that the GoFundMe campaign was able to raise the necessary funds to get her this van and she is so thankful and appreciative,” Linker’s friend, Whitney Klein, told Daily Voice.
“The car is just one part of the campaign,” Klein added. “Her 24-hour nursing care expenses are astronomical.”
More than $105,000 was raised on the page as of Wednesday night, setting the site’s founder, Anne Burton Walsh, more than halfway to the goal of $200,000.
“Through all of the heartbreak of recent years, Lesley has been incredibly grateful to help her babies grow and has worked hard to maintain an optimistic outlook for them,” Walsh said on the GoFundMe page.
“With your support, we can work to alleviate her outsized share of unfairness, sadness, humiliation and struggle," she said.
