Librie, a board certified hospice and palliative care nurse with Regional Hospice and Home Care Center for Comfort, Care and Healing in Danbury, earned the organization’s End-of-Life Care Nursing Career Development Award.

“My hospice philosophy is based on the comfort and dignity of my patients and families. Each patient and family is different and has different goals and needs,” Librie said in a statement. “I will do whatever the patient needs to make their end of life meaningful and their death peaceful.”

A case manager with Region Hospice since 2007, Librie is a member of its pain management committee, and played a key role in creating the Clinical Pathways resource for the agency’s nurses. When not developing hospice care content for national referral service organizations, Librie trains new nurses and students in oncology, palliative care and hospice practices.

The award comes with $2,500 to support her participation in the 2015 National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization Clinical Team Conference and Pediatric Intensive from Oct. 15 to 17 in Grapevine, Texas.

It’s the second notable award for Librie, who received the Nightingale Award for Excellence in Nursing in May 2010.
